In the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still produced in 1951, an alien race presents themselves to the planet earth by sending a messenger to warn the humans about there soon to be extinction. The messenger alien or humanoid named Klaatu who was played by Michael Rennie was accompanied by a robot peace forceman (police droid) called Gort to send the message of earths end. When Klaatu landed on earth he came with a gift to communicate with the other alien races, but the gift was mistaken as a weapon and Klaatu was shot. After the he healed his wound he was to carry out his mission of telling all of the leaders on earth the news of earths end, but the army wouldn't let him so he escaped. Klaatu blended in with the world and learned much about the humans culture while learning he stumbled upon a family that was renting out a room. In that building he learned further more about human emotions and thoughts. Klaatu in the building went as Mr. Carpenter, there he met a young boy named Bobby and his mother who was a widow named Helen. He became very friendly with the boy and his mother.
One day Bobby took Klaatu around and showed him the city there is where they went to a scientists house Professor Jacob Barnhardt. Unfortunately, the professor wasnt home before they left the house Klaatu broke into the house and found a problem on the chalkboard that the professor had done wrong. So Klaatu fixed the problem to where the professoer could finish the problem. The professors wife entered with shock and asked Klaatu to leave. Klaatu left his information down where he could be reached, so when the professor came back he could talk to him. Later, the army came to Klaatu and brought him to the professors house. There, Klaatu told the professor his reason for being on earth he wanted to know if the professor could gather the leaders so he could warn everyone. The professor told him to make everyone to believe that he had to show everyone that this was serious with out actually causing harm to anyone.
So later on that night Klaatu went to his ship however young Bobby was following him and discovered that who he knew as Mr. Carpenter was really the alien man. On Bobby's way back home his mom asked him why was he up so late, so Bobby tried to explain to them what he say but they didnt believe him until they started investigating Helen's boyfriend went to Klaatu's room and found a diamond that was not cut like a regular diamond. Helen was at work wondering if it was true that Mr. Carpenter was the alien man. Then shortly, Klaatu came to her office to tell her what was happening. When the two entered the elevator it stop all of the electricity in the world was gone this was the thing that Klaatu had done to show his seriousness of how important it was to get this message across. When the left the elevator Helen rushed to her boyfriends job to tell him not to call the army and tell on him, but he wouldnt listen and told any way.
When Helen came back to the house She helped Klaatu but it was to late the army shot Klaatu and killed him before he died he told Helen to say these important words to Gort which were "Klaatu barada nikto". When Helen got the ship Gort had broken out of the plastic container they put him. Gort had started his rampage Helen ran to him with fear and the words "Klaatu barada nikto" the Gort picked up Helen and took her to the ship then went back to rescue Klaatu's body and take it back to the ship. When Gort took the body to the ship he put Klaatu's body into a machine that reinvigorated life span for a limited time. After doing so the leaders were outside of the ship about to leave Klaatu came back to life and shared the message to the leaders. Klaatu's mission was complete and it was time for him to leave and go back to his home planet.
